Cold Pressed and Cold Pasteurized Juicing

Cold pressing and cold pasteurizing is a process that extracts pure juice from fresh apples. The result is unmistakably delicious apple juice that contains no additives and preserves all of the natural splendour of homegrown fruit. The taste is beyond comparison. Contact us to process your apples into an all natural juice you’ll be proud to share with your friends and family, or use your juice to make your own cider.

A little bit about the process…

The apples go through a water wash and are pressed between hydraulic belts and then sent through a UV pasteurizer. This process does not raise the temperature of the juice over a single degree. Many people enjoy the juice as is (MUST be refrigerated or frozen) or make cider with it. The juice lasts ~7-10 days in the fridge. When we bottle we always leave enough room to accommodate freezing and expansion.
We require a 100lbs minimum (it takes ~4-5lbs of fruit to make a liter of juice). This is around 4 recycling bins full. Pricing for the 2024 season is $2.00/lt produced of Cold Pressed UV Pasteurized juice plus containers ($1.25/2lt container), which comes to $5.25/jug.
The fruit does not have to be in perfect condition. Imperfections on the outside are not a problem, some small bruising is ok. Imagine if you cut off the not so nice part that you would still want to eat the fruit.

Please contact Jenni at Harvest Rd. by email if you have any further questions!

Keep it local

Michell’s Farm includes a 5 acre heritage apple orchard that grows a variety of apples that are sold in Michell’s market. For many years, Michell’s Farm has also had their apples processed locally at Phil’s Farm on Oldfield Road in Saanichton. We proudly served this juice at Harvest Rd. and it was incredibly popular among our guests. In 2019, Phil approached the owners of Harvest Rd. and informed us of his intent to sell his juicing facility. Rather than facing the potential of seeing this community based business permanently leave Vancouver Island, Harvest Rd. purchased the facility and entered into a one year mentorship program with Phil to ensure that the service would be available to his loyal local clients until we were able to establish a succession plan, and to learn the intricacies of creating this artisan product on our own. In 2020, we relocated the facility to a repurposed heritage building on the farm, where we now operate the custom juicing service.
